The Honolulu Trip

So for the Shawn's and Mia's spring break, we decided since Megan needed to see the genetics office there, why not make a mini vacation out of it. So it was Megan's first plane ride and she did great. She nursed on the lift off and was asleep when we landed. Treats for me as I had Mia to entertain and Gev and Shawn sat behind us listening to their ipods. Hmmm, sound familiar to a few of my mom friends??? Heehee! Other than our flight being delayed an hour (not a big deal) Our trip was off to a great start. The car rental (Alamo) were awesome and were able to get us a van, as none were available when I made the reservation. He gave us an awesome deal!! Hooray!! Plus we had tons of room for our luggage and room for more as we planned to pick up Gev's cousin Bridget to join us on our daily activities.
The doctors visit went great and we got an awesome room at the Hyatt Waikiki!! The best ocean view room, plus we were given regency club access. Big Mahalos Josh and Anui for the hook up!!! We took full advantage of the breakfast option for a couple of days. Totally saved us some money if you know what I mean!! Got to see a lot of our friends that we used to work with when Gev and I lived on Oahu. Miss them a ton.
I finally got to go to Baby Emporium, I'm kind of glad I didn't go before I had Megan, I would have spent so much money. But I got a baby sling, a buggy board (its a board that attaches to a stroller so that the older child can stand behind and get a ride too), this awesome bib that my friend Mariah had for her daughter Ryenne, its reusable and its catches the food that misses the babies mouth!!, Plus some other odds and ends stuff for Megan. Gev wanted to get Mia the bike style attachment rather than the board. Mia had so much fun on it, however in about 3 months she probably would have been too big for it. :( The staff there was so nice and very informative on all their products. I highly recommend their store!!
We also went to my friend Craig's house for a barbecue!! He and his wife were my roommates for a few months when I had no where to live. Miss those days, I was spoiled rotten. It was really cold, they live in Manoa Valley area. But the food and the company was the best.
So Target opened in Honolulu in early March. OMG!!! I got my target fix without having to go to the mainland. We went to the store on Salt Lake Blvd. The store is huge and beautiful. Unfortunately my family gave out before I did. Oh well!! We also made it out to Carters and I got some super cute stuff for Megan and Mia, Shawn and Gev got some new shoes.
We did go to the Bishop Museum this time. Unfortunately the Hawaiian Hall was closed due to renovations. It should be open in a few months. We saw some other artifacts from some other South Pacific cultures, pretty awesome. They also had an animation exhibit presented by the cartoon network (I'm not to fond of their cartoons, plus the kids aren't allowed to watch a lot of them) but the exhibit was so fun. I think Shawn, Gev and Mia had the most fun. I sat in the corner a lot nursing Megan. Heehee!! They also have a science building with a volcano model in the building, it shakes, makes noise, and smokes, and they have a slide you can ride on. We weren't able to enjoy that exhibit as Mia freaked out and screamed to be outside and away from the hot lava!! Poor baby, she couldn't be consoled for atleast 10 minutes. We've never seen her that freaked out before. We let Shawn play inside the building for a while longer, before we left.
If anyone has never been to this restaurant Makino Chaya, you are missing out. It was delicious. Totally worth the wait and the food, I can't stop thinking about it We will definitely be back!!
We were able to get the kids to Chuck E Cheese. Mia again freaked out at the robotic show with the characters there, but she had a blast with the games. Shawn loves all video games and definitely had a great time. I gave him a little extra money as he was being such a big help to us and patient with his sisters. Gev's cousin Bridget was with us and it was hilarious. She and I were sitting at a table talking and Chuck (the mouse) came out to sing happy birthday to the table next to us and then starting hitting on Bridget!! He kept coming over to hug her, sitting with us when he should have been at the next table. I had to take a picture of them with her camera. Too funny!! I mean she's such a beautiful girl, so what boy wouldn't flirt with her.
On our last day there we made it to the water park, it only took 3 different attempts. And YES! We did drive out there all 3 times. First day was too cold and rainy, next day we didn't have enough time. But my friend Karen (she works with me) met us there as she was on vacation with her husband and her grandson Caleb. For the first time Shawn had someone there to play with him and go on all the rides, but as boys will do they kept getting separated. Bridget entertained Mia for me. I sat and hung out with Karen and Gev helped me with Megan and took a nap.
Finally it was time to go home. The traffic was so bad we missed our flight. Oh great, so we had to pay to rebook our flights and we were all separated this time. Well I had the girls but you know what I mean. I think our trip was so long and we were so tired that when going through the security gate, plus Gev and I switched responsibilities, he was going to take Megan and I was going to make sure Shawn, Mia and our stuff made it through. I don't know what happened but when I went to give the guard our tickets. Gev started folding up the stroller!!! Megan was still inside. OMG!!!! I freaked out bad!!! Who does that right??!! Hello our baby is still in the stroller and he was supposed to take her out!!! We'll never switch up our duties again. Its just easier to stick with what we normally do.
So we all got home safe and sound, exhausted from our trip. Fun, definitely, but tiring!
